     Henry Darnall was a wealthy early Maryland planter, he served as the propietary agent of Cecil Calvert, 2nd Lord Baltimore, and for a time as the Deputy Governor of the colony. While his colonial offices and powers were removed as a result of the protestant revolution of 1689, he retained much land and the income from it. He left over 30.000 acres of land in four counties and about 100 slaves to his son, Henry Darnall II. Three of his well-known properties were "Darnall's Chance", "His Lordship's Kindness" and "The Woodyard"; all in Prince George's County.
